This simple handbag is a great project for learning to make a handbag. It is designed by Rae Hoekstra, the pattern is included in the class fee. This is a two part class. Friday night we construct the bag exterior and Saturday we line and finish the bag. Be sure you can attend both days!
Supplies - Two fat quarters of complimentary fabric - one for the bag outer, and one for the bag lining. Matching thread, a small piece of stabilizing interfacing, two decorative buttons and one magnetic closure. Your machine or ours.

T-Shirt Quilt - Patty Evans
2-2 hour classes - $45.00
Don't know what to do with all those special t-shirts you have been saving? We all have a box or two full of our child's school shirts, vacation shirts, sport shirts...You will learn how to make them into a keepsake t-shirt quilt including preparing the t-shirts, sashing and finishing the quilt. This will make a nice throw size quilt measuring 52 x 68.
Supplies: 15 inch quilting square is recommended (can use a 15inch clear plastic temple), rotary cutter and ruler or scissors to cut the squares, 5 yds of featherweight iron on interfacing, 3 ¾ yds. Fabric for backing and sashing, ¾ yd fabric for contrasting fabric and binding, batting measuring 55 x 72. Cement Leaf Casting – Jean Powell

Have you admired those wonderful cast leaves and want to try it out? We’ll have fun making small leaves out of cement, and not worry about the mess. Jean will show you how to shape the leaves and cast them in several layers. After drying for a few days they will be ready to be picked up at the studio, or keep them here to paint at the next Leaf Painting Class.

In these three workshops you will polish your photography skills to be able to take professional photo’s of your own artwork to post on Etsy, your blog or your website. Even learn techniques to take better photographs for your scrapbooking or photo albums.

1 – Learning your Camera – An intro class to take you out of automatic mode and give you control over your pictures. We’ll cover the camera’s basic settings and discuss how to improve your photographs with a focus on photographing people and larger craft projects such as clothing, blankets or wood crafts utilizing natural lighting and candid backdrops.

Cement Leaf Painting- Jean Powell
2 hours - $38.00 - for a large birdbath - $60.00
In this fun class you paint a cement sand casted leaf that you can display in your home or garden, use as a bowl, bird bath or feeder, even a fountain. Choose from a sunflower, hosta, and elephant ears among others. Acrylic paints are provided in various colors including metallics. The finished product is sprayed with a glaze after the class and the leaf can be picked up the following week. It is so much fun to start with a “piece” of cement and as you add layers of paint it suddenly becomes a work of art.
You can paint a large birdbath in this class also at an additional cost, let us know at time of registration.

Drop Spindling- Heather Quinones

Come and join Heather Quinones for a relaxing evening learning the art of creating your yarn with a drop spindle. You will be working with Jacob wool and Border Liecaster wool. The class will show you how to prepare the wool for spinning, use a drop spindle, and how to ply your new yarn. At the end of the class you will walk out with a drop spindle, will, written instructions, and possibly a new addiction to a new craft.

Spinning Wheel Classes- Heather Quinones

Spinning wheels are relaxing way to create specialty yarns with most types of fiber. Classes are designed based on your skill level. For beginner you will learn how to prepare your fiber for spinning, start to get a feel for the use of a spinning wheel, and have a small ball of yarn to show off for your work. For intermediate we go into plying of the yarn, adding inclusions (sparkles and yarn bits), and using some specialty fibers. We can arrange advance classes based on what you would like to learn. There are 2 wheels for class use, but if you have your own you are encouraged to bring it along. These classes are typically one on one, but I can accommodate 2 people.

Learn to Knit Continental Style- Martha Lombardi

In Continental knitting you hold the working yarn in your left hand and "scoop" the yarn with your right knitting needle. Whether you are a seasoned knitter or a beginner, this class will teach you the faster more efficient way to knit. Two handed knitting is great for color work, too. You will practice the technique and make a scarf in this class.

Knit Table Runner – Martha Lombardi
2 – 2 hour classes - $45.00
Create a beautiful table runner for indoors or out. You will learn a matching cast on and bind off, right and left decreases, YO’s and the cleanest way to finish the sides of your work. This is a great class for your first lace project, you'll practice using stitch markers to knit without having to refer to the pattern.
Supplies: 200 to 400 yards of worsted weight yarn, size 7 knitting needles. Pattern and markers are included in cost of class.

Knitting in the Round with Two Circular Needles – Martha Lombardi
2 – 2hour classes – 35.00
Master the clever skill of knitting a tube using two circular needles. No more getting poked with a double pointed or losing your stitches off of the needle. You will learn to cast on and knit one tube and then two at the same time. This technique is perfect for hats, mittens or socks and especially useful when knitting Fair Isle.
Supplies: 2 balls of wool worsted weight yarn (or one ball seperated into two), approx. 50 yds each, 2 pairs of size 8, 9 or 10 circular needles.

Learn to Knit for Kids

Want to learn to knit? You can make gifts for your friends and family. The knit stitch and the purl stitch are the two basic stitches you need to learn. We will learn to knit and purl by knitting a beautiful colorful scarf, which you can take home with you.
